Lot 49 vs. Watts
If there was a battle between these to pieces of work by pynchon, it would be as epic as good vs. evil or + vs. -. Nothing but the definition of opposite can describe the difference in delivery that Pynchon uses. In one instance, he is the mysterious author that hides behind a cloudy smattering of confusing ideas and concepts, and in the other he is as straightforward and concise as a textbook. This is a good example of the teacher explaining the concept in class, then assigns homework that makes us see the concept for ourselves, such as writers write the way they write for a reason. I'm glad he at least writes something that the reader can truly get something out of. I felt like I was really reading an interesting and informative article on a very intense story, as opposed to being lost in a mysterious story.
